Of Clouds and Clocks (2026)

Inspired by Karl Popper’s metaphor of “clocks” and “clouds,” this work reflects on the tension between systems of order and states of indeterminacy. Drawing a conceptual thread from Ligeti’s Clocks and Clouds, the piece situates this duality within an acousmatic sound world, where precision and unpredictability coexist.

A key sonic source is the historic town clock of New Bern, North Carolina. Its resonances are fragmented, stretched, and diffused into shifting sonic “clouds,” creating a spatial environment where clarity dissolves into ambiguity.

Quadraphonic and ambisonic formats  available.
